While piloting the Mothership back to Earth, Martin sees Diana steal a shuttlecraft and sends Donovan in pursuit. Donovan disables her craft with expert marksmanship, and Diana is captured and imprisoned to await trial as humankind spends a year celebrating its victory over the Visitors.
During the year, Resistance fighters attempt to put their lives back in order: Donovan, along with Martin, resumes a career in television broadcasting. Julie finds employment under Nathan Bates at Science Frontiers, the company responsible for production of the Red Dust and now its vaccine, too. Robert Maxwell, Robin, and Elizabeth settle down on a quiet ranch. Elias and Willie open the Club Creole restaurant.
Nathan Bates hires Ham Tyler to kidnap Diana, because he needs her in order to discover the secrets of the captured Mother Ship. While being led to trial, a hired gun shoots Diana and she is rushed into an ambulance. In a stolen helicopter, Donovan and Martin follow the ambulance to a freeway underpass where the ambulance emerges on one end and a cargo truck emerges on the other. Suspecting the ambulance and Diana have been hidden in the truck, they follow it to a remote location where Bates is keeping Diana. He wants to make a deal with her: relative freedom in exchange for information about the Mother Ship.
Before any deal can be made, Martin sneaks in during the night and attempts to kill Diana for her crimes. Instead, he is mortally wounded and Diana escapes. She makes her way to the Southwestern Tracking Station and signals the Visitor Fleet to rescue her. Donovan and Tyler are there, too, but they are unable to stop Diana. As she is rescued by a Skyfighter and her stolen Red Dust vaccine wears off, she realizes that the Red Dust had no affect on her or the pilot of the fighter.
Meanwhile, Robins heads out for a trip to Santa Cruz and Elizabeth subsequently becomes gravely ill. Robert calls Julie for help, and they worry that Elizabeth may becoming one of "them." Before anything can be done, Elizabeth hides away in a cave and begins a metabolic change.
As Diana heads toward the far side of the Moon where most of the Visitor Fleet is in hiding, the episode ends with the words "to be continued."
