Freedom Network Update: An integrated force of black and white South Africans raided a processing plant in Johannesburg and rescued more than 200 people; the Medal of Valor is awarded to Stuart Kaminsky for operating an underground railroad from Atlanta to Philadelphia and saving more than 300 people from the Georgia work camps; Nathan Bates is reported to be dead, and the fate of Los Angeles hangs in the balance.

Los Angeles is under siege by the Visitors! Their forces soon control the city, and most Resistance cells have been hit hard. The attack was ordered by Diana without the consent of Charles and Lydia, and for that Lydia is furious. Charles is sympathetic to Lydia's viewpoint, but he can hardly court martial Diana since events are going so well. It's a simple matter of politics.

However, Charles does have a plan to remove Diana from the game — he'll marry her. As a member of the House of Raman he has the right to take any mate he chooses, and by law the woman cannot refuse. Once married, the only way Diana can serve the cause is by bearing offspring, and that is a task better performed at home than on the front lines. Lydia isn't happy about the arrangement — she'd rather just shoot Diana — but Charles pursues his plan nonetheless.

Meanwhile, a small family in Los Angeles is expecting a baby and they need a doctor. The father, Alan Davis, seeks out Julie Parrish at Resistance Headquarters. He's an old friend of Julie, as she went to school with his brother. Julie agrees to help deliver the baby, and they set out with Kyle to return to Alan's family's hiding place in the city.

Acting on a hunch from Diana, Lt. James leads a Visitor patrol and locates the secret basement below the remains of the Club Creole. He nearly captures the remaining Resistance members, but Elizabeth uses her powers to collapse the ceiling and cut off the Visitors while the freedom fighters escape. Mike Donovan sends Elizabeth and Willie to establish a new base of operations at an abandoned movie studio while Mike himself sets out to find Julie. Because Julie doesn't know the Club Creole was raided, she'll be captured if she returns there. Mike intends to prevent that from happening.

On the Mother Ship, Charles informs Diana that she is to be his bride. She resists but ultimately has no choice in the matter. Diana had planned to appeal to the Leader about the situation, but Lydia informs her nemesis that the Leader has already sent his blessing even though he cannot attend. With no hope of appeal, Diana makes plans to leave on the first shuttle.

A Visitor named Louis, loyal to Diana, arrives to inform her that her shuttle is ready. Diana packs her bag and heads to the landing bay. But apparently Louis isn't as loyal as he pretended to be, because Charles has been tipped off and is waiting there. He reminds her that the penalty for a bride deserting her groom is death. Diana makes a light excuse for her trip to the landing bay before she is escorted away by Louis.

In Charles's quarters, Lydia is waiting for him with kisses. But Charles only wants to talk about Diana. After seeing Diana during her ritual bath, he's decided to keep her around for a while. Lydia isn't happy with the news, and she hurries to see the pharmacist Marta, who is preparing a wedding potion for Charles. Lydia procures a bottle of poison and some special "musk of rat" perfume, too.

Back on Earth, Alan leads Julie and Kyle to the Davises' hideout. Soon a Visitor patrol arrives, and they spot Alan's sleepy-eyed kid giving away the rebel's location. The Visitors surround the place and Lt. James demands that the Resistance members give themselves up or die. The group decides to make a run for it and Kyle walks out with his hands up as a decoy. Just then, Donovan shows up on the roof of a neaby building and draws the Visitors' fire. Eventually he and the rest of the team get away. Regrouping at the new Resistance base, the happy couple and their newly-born child are safe. They name their daughter Victoria, for the victory they all hope will come soon.

The wedding ceremony begins on the Mother Ship and Diana makes her grand entrance. Charles vows to fight in the Leader's name, and Diana vows to bear a multitude of fierce warriors for him. With a promise to "hunt and provide," Charles offers the ceremonial mouse to Diana and she devours it. Meanwhile, Lydia sneaks away from the proceedings to Charles's quarters. Finding the nuptial drinks waiting there, she slips some poison into Diana's cup.

With his benediction, "like two sepents intertwined, may you cling together until death," the high priest pronounces Charles and Diana mated, and the reception festivities begin. The newlyweds adjourn to their quarters, where Diana notices the lingering scent of Lydia's perfume. Tipped off, she swaps cups with Charles and he ends up drinking the poison. The effects are almost immediate as Charles realizes he's been poisoned by Lydia!

Later when Lydia visits Charles's quarters, she finds his emaciated corpse and is horrified. Diana arrives with an entourage of guards and arrests Lydia for the murder of Charles.
