Dragon Con 2009

Hello all.

I haven't seen the same costuming folks come back to the board now that things are up and running again, but hopefully some folks here will be interested. There are a number of us here that are into costuming and props and have started doing Visitor costumes at cons.

Last year I premiered my costume at Dragon Con in Atlanta. For those of you that may not know Dragon Con is perhaps the single biggest convention in the country although SDCC may be close. Check it out at www.dragoncon.org . Among other things it is THE con for costuming as most of the organized costuming clubs are well represented. I also belong to the 501st and the Scifihero and will be costuming with those groups, but some of us were hoping to get a good Visitors presence at the con. One of the events at the con is the parade through downtown Atlanta on Saturday morning. This usually draws a huge crowd.

My hope is to see how many members of this forum are going to DC and would like to participate in the parade as an organized group. Anyone one up for this?

Oh man! I can't believe I am going to miss DC again! GRRRRRR!!!

My friends and I are shooting for next year! Hopefully, with the new series out there will be interest in "Classic V" too!

There is ALWAYS an interest in classic "V"...I got Mobbed almost constantly last DC I went to, and my costume wasn't as good then as it is now!!

Talk to Rick (Bouri-Pwel). He has a nice Shocktrooper and I sure he could point you in the right direction.

I had a second shocktrooper helmet forever....I had it for sell for the longes time...nobody wanted it....but now it finally sold recently. I got my helmet from Monsterman. I have not seen him on here since we moved to the new forums.

I would like to see some pictures of that rifle.....when you finishi it, would be great if you could write up a step-by-step tutorial on how you made it for others to follow as a less expensive alternative to the casted resin one like I have

is there going to be a meet up photo shoot and/or ect at dragon con
for v visitor ??

We're trying to organize a group to march in the Dragon Con parade followed by some kind of group photo shoot.

Just so you know Allen, Neil already signed us up for the Dragon Con parade....It looks like we are a go......so we need to get as many a possible to march!!!!!!

I'm going to be in costume, unfortunately not from V.

That sort of thing is beyond my budget for now, but maybe next year.

I am SO stoked about going to this thing.

I had heard of it for years, but could never afford to go until now.

Is anyone from V actually going to be there?
