Donovan, Michael

When the Visitor Fleet first arrived, Donovan was in El Salvador covering the rebel fighting there. As a journalist cameraman who had covered war stories in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and there in Central America, he had been part of too many revolutions to believe the Visitors' promise of peace and prosperity. When the conspiracy of scientists was revealed, Donovan spotted a pattern familiar to him.

Donovan could have investigated the Visitors in any part of the world but chose Los Angeles, where his son lived. When his son was subsequently captured by the Visitors, it prompted Donovan to sneak aboard the mother ship. Donovan taped footage revealing the true nature of the Sirians, and learned of the actual intentions of the Visitors. Taking this information to a small embryonic resistance group, he became part of a mobilization against Visitor activity. Although Donovan gains the friendship and trust of certain Visitor fifth columnists, he gains an even greater enemy in Diana, who realizes a personal vendetta against the Resistance leader.

Parrish, Julie

When the Visitor Fleet first arrived, Parrish had recently completed her doctorate in medicine and gone through her internship. With the world soon under siege, medical assistance became of paramount importance, especially since the Visitors had managed to ostracize a large percentage of scientists thanks to a conspiracy campaign. Parrish set up a secret hospital and undertook her most important research, to examine the Visitors and discover how they could be combatted at the physiological level.

Parrish was instrumental in the Resistance plot to invade a televised Visitor presentation and unmask the supreme commander of the fleet during his speech. However, Parrish was captured and underwent conversion therapy by Diana, who planned to use Parrish against the Resistance. But before the final stages can be completed, Parrish is rescued by the humans. After the bacterial weapon had been deployed and Diana was facing the Resistance at gunpoint in her own control room, she was able to exert enough residual control over Parrish in order to escape (temporarily).

After the Resistance's apparent victory, Parrish was employed by Science Frontiers. When the Visitors returned and the Resistance reunited, Parrish remained at her position, secretly relaying information to the underground. Eventually, she was discovered and forced to move underground herself.

Tyler, "Ham"

Before the Visitor Fleet arrived, Tyler was a paid mercenary in the Central America wars. He and Donovan were acquaintances, having met while Donovan was covering the war. When news of the first Resistance attack against the Visitors in the U.S. reached Tyler, he knew that in a war of global scale he'd be a free agent working for himself on home soil. He was less than thrilled to discover that the co-leader of the Los Angeles Resistance was his old nemesis, Donovan. The two were known to regularly disagree on tactics and battle strategy.

When the war was apparently won, Tyler started his own private security company. Science Frontiers's Nathan Bates hired Tyler to free Diana, and Tyler agreed on the condition that he could have her when Bates was finished with her. Tyler's hatred for Diana demanded her torture and execution at his hands. But Bates played Tyler for a fool and when Diana escaped, Tyler vowed revenge on Bates. Tyler never revealed his role in freeing Diana and turning her over to Bates, knowing that the Resistance would not understand.

When Bates was finally killed in a Visitor attacks, Tyler felt that it was time to move on to other cities where local resistance efforts needed assistance. He was last known to be operating in the United States city of Chicago.
